Women's Orchard Ride

Middlefield, CT

Join us for a fun fall, orchard ride!  This ride will start and end at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, CT.  The ride is a 10 mile loop through beautiful, quiet country roads in Middlefield and Middletown. Enjoy the ride and conque one last hill at Powder Hill Rd to earn a beautiful overlook of the orchards.  Ride down through the apple trees and pumpkin fields back to Lyman's Apple Barrel where you'll be greeted with the smell of freshly baking apple pie.  A hot cider and warm piece of pie with friends is the perfect way to finish this fall orchard ride!

We will have two different ride options:
Group 1 will do 2 loops for a 20 mile ride at 13+ mph average.  Road bikes only!
Group 2 will do a single loop for a 10 mile ride at 10 - 12 mph average.  Road bikes + fitness bikes only!

Group 1 start @ 8:30 am
Group 2 start @ 9:00 am

Park at the championship golf course GPS: 70 Lyman Road, Middlefield.  Please park on the gravel part (at the end of the paved lot) to leave room for the golfers.

Please meet approx 15 minutes before your start time in order to sign a waiver, pick up a cue sheet and meet up with your ride leader.  Both groups will have shop ride leaders and we will have designated regrouping stops along the route. The 10 mile group will have a rest stop at approx.  mile 6, Wadsworth Park, for a bathroom break (and maybe a photo or two!)

Note: this ride is on roads!  Even though they are quieter country roads, they are still open to traffic.  We HIGHLY recommend daytime running lights - front and rear - for all riders. Helmets are required for all riders and you must carry the means to change a flat tire with you (if you don't have the knowledge, no sweat our ride leaders are there to help).

WHAT TO BRING:

bicycle (road/fitness bikes only please)
helmet (required)
closed toe shoes
water and nutrition
personal ID
sunglasses
flat repair kit

** If it's been a while since your last ride, or if you have any questions about the state of your bike, we strongly suggest you bring your bike to our service department for a free safety check prior to the day of the ride. **

Not sure if your bike is appropriate for this ride? Please email the make/model to amanda@newingtonbike.com and we'll do our best to make sure you have the proper equipment for the ride demands.  Mountain bikes or comfort hybrids are not unfortunately not designed for this ride.
